What is halfpenny stamp?

The halfpenny stamp was a postage stamp issued by Great Britain in 1870. It was the smallest denomination stamp at the time and was used for sending letters and postcards weighing up to one half ounce. The design of the stamp featured a profile of Queen Victoria and was printed in brown ink. The halfpenny stamp was in use until 1915 when it was replaced by a new design. Today, the stamp is highly collectible and can be found in stamp collectors' albums and exhibitions.
